Amidst the new generation of Tabla players on the music scene today, AMIT CHOUBEY is a name apart. Groomed from the tender age of seven under the able guidance of Tabla Maestro Pt. Karodilal Bhatt, at present he is taking advanced Tabla Training from Ustad Allarakha Music Institute under the World-renowned Tabla Maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pt. Yogesh Samsi at Mumbai.
Amit brings to music a mind alive to the movement and nuances of rhythm along with a superior tonal quality that has been cultivated through persistent practice and dedication. An astute tabla player who combines the sheer rigour of tradition along with innovative modern percussion techniques in his playing, Amit Choubey is a name to reckon with. Apart from being an accomplished tabla soloist, Amit is also a versatile accompaniment artiste.
He has accompanied eminent Hindustani classical vocalists, light vocalist and instrumentalists like Dr. Sushila Tai Pohankar,Padamshri Pt.Purushotum Das Jalota, Ustad Shujaat khan (sitar) Padam Vibhushan Shri Dr.L.Subramanium (Voilen),Ustad Rais Khan(Sitar) Pt. Ajay Pohankar, Pt. Dhruva Ghosh (Sarangi), Ghazal maestros Jagjit Singh, Bhajan Samarth Anup Jalota, SureshWadhekar ,HariHaran and many more……
As a soloist, Amit has performed extensively in India and USA, U.S., Canada, South Africa, Holland, Russia, Japan ,Australia, NewZeland Fiji & many other countries. A keen student of world music, Amit has also performed with Percussion Maestros Taufiq Qureshi, Ranjit Barot, Trilok Gurtu and various Fusion Bands. He is one of the regular tablists of Indian film & music industry. He has played for many films and many classical, devotional, light music & Fusion music Albums. The Government Of India, 2001-2002, has honored him with the prestigious National Music Scholarship. In 2009 Amit got Taal-mani Awarde from Sur Singar Sansad Mumbai. He is also got Bal vikas & Pre -Seva Dal Diploma from Shri satya Sai Organization India of Bhagvan Sri Satya Sai Baba.
Notable among his achievements are his singular performances at various youth festivals and several prestigious Music Concerts, which have fetched him great appreciation and applause.Clarity of sound, Creativity of patterns, and Correctness of technique have helped Amit carve a meaningful identity for himself in the World of Music.
